What is Inorganic Chemistry, and What Does an Inorganic Chemist Do?
Inorganic chemistry is the branch of chemistry that deals with compounds not containing carbon. These compounds include metals, metalloids, and nonmetals, including such diverse substances as sulfuric acid (HOSO), water (HO), and hexane ((CH)).
The compounds studied by an inorganic chemist include both pure substances such as water (HO) and sulfuric acid ((HOSO)) and mixtures such as hexane ((CH)).
